Week in the Life 2012 - Preparations

Thursday, 19 April 2012

Since 2008, I have participated in Ali Edwards' Week in the Life Project. Well, truthfully I have never actually completed an album. I have taken photos - LOTS of photos, and journalled all about our everyday lives during that week. And that is as far as I have come. Somehow I just get stuck in the details...as with everything else! Doing Project Life digitally this year has changed that for me. I no longer get stuck (permanently, at least!) in the details or in trying to get it perfect and "just right". My new slogan is "Just get it done"! I have more confidence in using Photoshop Elements and digital templates. Above all, I am tired at looking at a computer full of great photos from our lives, that my family never gets to enjoy. Time to get it into books!

This year I took a look at the Week in the Life Album templates that Ali is selling, and I thought, Actually, I'd like to have a go at making something like that myself (Rather ambitious of me, I know!). So I sat down with my laptop and started playing around with Photoshop Elements, and I have come up with an ultra simple set of templates that I am very happy with. Now I am looking forward to next week, taking all the pictures and writing down all the details. I will probably put it all together the week after that then get it printed as a photo book. I can't wait!

If you want to join in, you can read more about it here.

Hugs, Fiona

  1. Looks really good... I might have to teach me some day how to make my own templates... ;) I've got a free program that's almost like photoshop on my mac.... So I'll be experimenting with you soonish... ;)

  2. I am just like you--I have taken pictures and wrote things down..and fizzled out at about day 4. I think I am really going to try and do it this time--but I am taking the pressure off and telling myself that I am going to capture the whole thing with my iphone. Can't wait now for next week, I think I might come up with my own templates too!

  3. It's going to be fun! More fun when you make it all yourself, too!

  4. I'd love to take part in Ali's Week In The Life but this week is too crazy. Might take it on next month. Love to see how yours go! And good on you for making your own templates.
