Exploring Rwanda - Kigali

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

Visiting Rwanda last week was an amazing experience. We stayed at the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Training Centre, in a suburb of Kigali (the Capital City). Rwanda is unlike any other place we've been to in Africa. It is clean and tidy, orderly and (reasonably) quiet, and incredibly beautiful. They call it the Land of a Thousand Hills, and everywhere you look there are beautiful rolling hills, covered in lush, green vegetation and dotted with houses. As you drive through the streets in one of the public buses, or on the back of a "moto" if you're feeling adventurous, you see people hard at work...digging, cleaning, washing, building, cutting grass, sweeping. There are no swarms of children, dogs and chickens running through the streets, as you might see in other countries. And everywhere you look are small signs of beauty, of people making the best out of what they have, be it a little or a lot. Come with me on a drive through the streets of Kigali!

There is still so much more to show you, and so much more to say, about our time in Rwanda. Until then, enjoy these images of beautiful Kigali!

  1. Wow! Kigali is beautiful! It looks so much like Uganda but WAY cleaner. I would love to visit Rwanda someday, for some reason that has always been the country in Africa that I have been drawn to.

I can't wait to see more photos and hear more about your trip!
