Heading Out

Monday, 5 November 2012

The plane tickets are booked, visas ordered, passports in order, vaccinations received, babysitters lined up, and travel journal acquired. There are still some details to arrange...bags needing to be packed, a house needing to be cleaned, lists of information for the babysitters waiting to be written, and three precious children to spend quality time with.

The time has {almost} arrived for us to leave on our trip. Christian and I are heading off to the small, mountainous nation of Rwanda for a week. Our children will stay behind in Denmark with family. We are excited, nervous, worried and looking forward to it, all at the same time. We have finally found a project that we are seriously considering being involved with. There aren't too many details to share, as we don't even know that much about it, but it involves orphans, widows, education, healthcare, agriculture, sewing, building, clean water, and possibly more. This has been our hope for many years, to be able to work with people who are facing challenges with basic infrastructure. Hopefully, this is the project we've been looking and waiting for.

We will join up with our friends on the way to Rwanda, and spend the week with them, looking at the project and hoping to address all types of practical concerns, such as where to live, where Alexander can go to school, what will it cost to live there, what things we can get hold of there, and what we need to bring from home. Most importantly, what kind of dog can we get? ;)

I am looking forward to getting an idea of what it will be like to live there, and plan to take lots of pictures. It will be fun sharing those with you after I get back.

Hugs, Fiona
