In the Moment

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

This morning I sat down with Lucy and built a zoo for her out of Duplo. I was filled with nostalgia, remembering a day and a time just like this with Alexander, now 4 years ago. How often have I been too busy to sit down with Lucy, too preoccupied and distracted, too willing to encourage her to play with her siblings, to just be with her, and enjoy her? Too many times. I thoroughly enjoyed the moment of just being, with her right beside me, engaged in her play. And then, so suddenly and in her frustration, she threw the toys and the zoo lay in pieces. The moment was over.

This week I am taking some time to be in the moment with my children. After a week apart from each other, we need time to reconnect, and to enjoy each others' presence. I am filled with impressions from our trip to Rwanda last week, and I am still processing it in my mind. I will get some photos up as soon as I can, but for now, I am enjoying the moments, small and fleeting as they are, wherever and whenever I find them.

Have a great week :)

  1. This is totally something I've been thinking about a lot lately. Too often Raeca hears me say "I am busy" or "just a minute" and while I know there is a time and a place for that I feel like that's all I've been saying lately. Thanks for the reminder Fiona! (I can't wait to hear about your trip!!)

    1. You're welcome. It's nice to get a reminder now and again. As it turns out, Lucy had an awesome nap, so I managed to get out a few pictures of our trip after all! Enjoy your time with your precious girl! Hugs :)

  2. Wow that's really precious Fiona :) I'm sure Lucy really really loved it :-)
