December Daily: Dec 1-3

Tuesday, 4 December 2012

Hello December, and hello December Daily! I have finally found a pocket of time big enough to put together the pages from the first three days of December, in between celebrating the start of Advent, visiting family, and nursing sick children. Whew! Luckily, these pages were very fast and easy to put together, which makes me very happy!

Dec 1: Of course, the 1st December is usually about the advent calendars. I also wanted to include this picture of Alexander and Christian making the wreath together, a Merrild family tradition. I love family traditions like that!
Dec 2: This was the first Sunday of Advent, so we lit the first candle and sang the little song written below. It translates, "Now we light the first candle, which must stand alone. We await the little child, who in a manger lay" (it rhymes in Danish). Alexander got such a kick out of lighting the first candle, and was so proud of himself. I guess it will be Isabel's turn next Sunday :)
We spent the day with Christian's mum and enjoyed the freshly fallen snow. It's the first snow of the season and it came at such an appropriate time! She had arranged for us to go along to a local arrangement, where we had to find Santa Claus in the forest. It was lots of fun to go along, but the children got cold and tired, so it ended a bit miserably. Even the sight of Santa and lolly bags didn't do much to cheer the girls up, and it was a tired bunch who came home!
Dec 3: With Isabel still recovering from her stomach bug, and generally tired children, I decided to keep them at home. We enjoyed playing in the snow together and just relaxed. It was a nice day. When Christian came home we made pebernødder (like gingerbread cookies) together with the dough that we got from Bedstemor. They had a great time making them, and even more fun eating them!
I'm linking up to Ali Edwards with about a gazillion other people, so head over if you're looking for inspiration for your December Daily project.

Hugs, Fiona

  5. So I decided last minute that I wasn't going to do DD this year. I'm satisfied with my decision because I didn't want to have to stress over it but I have to say I'm really loving the look of yours so far! Maybe you could just do mine too? :) I can't wait to see more!

    2. Exactly.. I'm quite behind.. Harvest was a busy time and then now I'm busy sewing getting the quilts ready before we go to Denmark.. ;-) But I've got pictures to make the pages when I get the time - so I'm not too stressed out about it :)

      See you soon xxxx

    3. I'm a bit behind too. The TV has lost its colour so I've been sharing my laptop with the kiddos, who have been home sick all week, so no crafty time for me! I'm hoping for some time soon as I've got Christmas and advent gifts to make for the kiddos as well as heaps of memory keeping to catch up on. So I understand quite well ;)
