week in the life is a detailed look into an ordinary week right now, through pictures and words. inspired by ali edwards. you can see my other posts from
this week here and all previous posts here

The story of this photo |  I love looking in through the door to see him playing with his Lego. After a long period of not really playing with it, he has suddenly started playing with his Star Wars Lego, and spent the morning building his own base.

The story of this photo | Getting work started for the day. He will be really glad when our colleagues are back from summer holidays and he can get into a more predictable routine.

The story of this photo | Breakfast on my own after being the last to wake up. This tells me how much our everyday is changing now that the kids are a little older.

The story of this photo | He's so proud of his star fighter that he made from his imagination.

The story of this photo | She didn't want to join in the movement songs in circle time. I enjoyed having a little cuddle.

The story of this photo | In the dry season, every time the wind blows the house fills with dirt and dust. Dirty floors drive me crazy, so I spend a lot of time sweeping them.

The story of this photo | We have gotten into a good rhythm with our school days already, only two weeks in. I'm really thankful for that, and that there are less complaints about what needs to get done.

The story of this photo | I think I'm a convert to this new coffee I've been trying. My favourite part is that it's grown in Rwanda by farmer's cooperatives (small business) and is co-owned by the farmers, coining the phrase "Beyond Fair Trade". I love it when the money I spend on my everyday coffee helps small farmers in Rwanda to have a better life, especially when helping people is the reason we moved here.

The story of this photo | I love to see how his drawing skills are increasing. The curriculum we use for homeschooling is such an awesome fit for us (mostly), and our days are filled with imagination, beauty and creativity. Just as early childhood ought to be.

The story of this photo | Today cheetah is dressed as a ninja. Cheetah is so very loved, and I'm never really sure what role she's going to have each day.

The story of this photo | Our new piece of furniture arrived today, and it actually looks just like we ordered it, which is a rarity. It fills the space, and our needs, so beautifully, and we're really thankful for it.

The story of this photo | They went out to make a stand for the glass ant farm they're making. I love to watch them making things together, even when he needs a gentle reminder to not do it all himself.

The story of this photo | We made masks after learning about Ancient China and practised our story so we could show it to Far (Dad).

The story of this photo | He cuts and grinds all the meat we buy straight away, so I only have to take it out of the freezer and prepare it. He makes living in Rwanda so much easier through all the extra work he does, and I am so thankful for him.

The story of this photo | We put on the performance for an audience of one. They really enjoyed performing like this. There was some fighting over who would get to be the dragon, so we ended up doing the performance three times.

The story of this photo | After the performance, the scarves were fun to dance with. I love the way they catch the light, and the way all three join in the dancing.

The story of this photo | I love it when we make food together. I peeled the potatoes and he prepared the meat. We do things best when we do it together.

The story of this photo | I love the way we eat together, every day. Right now we are lucky enough to eat all our meals together, every day. It has not always been like this, and it won't always be like this, but that's how it it right now, and I'm thankful for that.

The story of this photo | Fridays are for movie night and a bowl of goodies. I spy favourites from our last trip to Denmark, a gift from a German friend, and lollypops from our Swedish friend, who visited two months ago. We are so very blessed.

The story of this photo | He really wanted a haircut, but the power was out all day. We had given up on it coming back when it made an appearance during movie night. We let the kids watch alone and had time to get his haircut.

The story of this photo | Friday nights are for relaxing together, watching our current favourite show.
