week in the life 2016 - monday

Tuesday, 10 May 2016

this week is ali edwards' week in the life project. this is my 9th year joining in, and it's one of the best ways for getting a really great look at our everyday lives. even though all those years aren't in completed albums, they're some of my most favourite photos ever.

i wasn't sure if i was going to join in this week, or choose another week, as this week we have "bedstemor" (grandma) visiting from denmark. of course it's not our usual routine, but i decided to go ahead with it, as it's so much more fun joining in when other people are doing it too. instead of taking a gazillion photos like i usually do, i decided to focus on getting a few good shots of our everyday routines.

today i used my 50mm lens the whole day, which gives some different perspective in the photos than my usual wide shot.

7:30 - good morning cuddles with this little "mole", burrowing under the covers looking for her lost mummy and daddy. i can't believe we wake up so late now.
7:45 - shower time. after a whole week without water, i am so grateful that i can walk straight into the shower instead of boiling water like i did last week.
my beautiful mother's day flowers
8:00 - alexander helps we get the breakfast put out and we all eat together.
8:30 - i'm still drinking coffee, so isabel starts on her recorder practice. i'm so impressed with how well she's doing, and so is she.
9:00 - we are underway with the day's first lesson, language.

10:00 - morning tea outside on the patio. fresh pineapple and watermelon. yum!
10:30 - time for some outdoor play.
12:30 - bedstemor reads lucy a story while waiting for the soup to finish...
...and isabel works on her weaving.
16:30 - afternoon coffee time.
17:00 - i take a break on the front porch and check out instagram...
...while far (dad) plays with the kids on the playground.
18:30 - we eat dinner together.
20:00 - goodnight!

after putting the kids to bed i ran out of photo taking energy, but there's still plenty of week left. i made a real effort to get myself into the photos, and when i was saying goodnight to the kids, isabel said, "i like when you're in the photos with us. give the camera to far so you can be in the photos!". that's definitely something i'll be working on more during the week.

  1. I love this little glimpse.

  2. I can't believe you've done Week in the Life for nine years! This is my third, and I love comparing. I bet you have a great history of daily life snapshots.

  3. What a wonderful series of photographs. Really wonderful.
And, shockingly, the first time I have come across the Week in the Life project.
I may need to note it for next year.
